  • We welcome Dennis and June Neidlinger into membership at Avon UMC today. Dennis and June both joined by Profession of Faith.
     
  • The next New Membership Class will be part of Wednesday Night Live on September 17th and 24th from 7:00 to 8:30 pm. It will be led by Pastor Karen and Pastor Dirk and will meet in the Conference Room. Please contact the church office at 272-4068 or office@avonumc.com if you would like to attend.
     
  • Have your blood pressure taken today between 9:15 and 9:35 am or 10:30 and 10:50 am in Diane Gattone’s office.
     
  • Join us today in the basement from 10:15 to 10:45 am for refreshments, a time to meet children, youth and adult church school teachers, see samples of curriculum and pick up a calendar of events scheduled for the church school year. Parents, be sure to pick up your children (4th grade and younger) from the basement before 10:45 am.
     
  • Joyful Sound Choir, for children in first through fifth grades, will begin meeting again today, September 7th from 5:00 to 6:00 pm in the Music Suite. If this will be your child’s first time in this choir, please give me a call – Linda Dobbs, Director, 272-0282.
     
  • Faithful Feet will have registration today, September 7th at 6:00 pm in Rooms 103-105 in Fellowship Hall. Rehearsals, performances and materials will be discussed. Your child needs to also be present so that measurements can be taken. Please bring last year’s costumes so that we can see who has been growing!   • The Generations Ringers will have practice today, September 7th at 4:00 pm in the Music Suite. Ages 10 – 100 are welcome. Basic music reading skills are necessary. If you have any questions, please contact Cathy Klemmensen at Bcebk@aol.com or 837-0404.
     
  • Trustees need workers the next 2 Saturdays beginning at 8:00 am to help with the construction of the Wesley Pavilion. Any amount of time that you could give would be VERY helpful. You can call John Lisby for questions, sign up on the board at church or simply show up. Refreshments will be provided.  Please pray for the safety of the workers!
     
  • New Care Notes are available on the kiosk by the sofa in the Welcome Area. Please take ones you may find helpful.
  • Helpers are needed for the 3 year old, 4 year old, kindergarten and 1st grade Sunday School classes. Sign-up lists can be found on the Christian Ed. bulletin board beside the first floor kitchen or posted outside of classrooms.

  • Intouch9:12 – there are still books available for the Dateable study which will begin September 10th and end October 29th. We will start out with dinner at 6:00 pm and end our study at 8:00 pm. Read the book, bring a friend and let’s discuss! Contact Kimberly Ayers with questions.
     
  • IGGY56 will be starting on September 11th. The church will pick up students at Avon's Intermediate Schools East and West. West will be the first pick up when school lets out and will come to church for Backpack Power Hour; which is a time to quietly be used for unfinished homework, reading, or studying. East will then be picked up at their dismissal time. The entire group will have an after school snack and time for playing games and creating a devotion. If you have a fifth or sixth grader who is interested, they must have a permission slip filled out, which can be found by Pastors Dirk's office, and turned into their school’s office by September 11th to be able to get on our bus.   • Impact78 will have a Riley Night Lock-In on Friday, September 12th starting at 7:00 pm. Parents that would like to help are also needed. Youth and parents, please sign up on the clip board in The Oasis. Call Kimberly Ayers at 752-2916 with questions.
     
  • Young at Heart(s) will meet for lunch at Green Street Station in Brownsburg at 11:30 am on Tuesday, September 16th. Please RSVP to Wanda Money at 272-2546 by Sunday, September 14th. 
     
  • The Women’s Reading Group will meet on September 15th at 6:30 pm at Nona Hollenbaugh’s home to discuss March, by Geraldine Brooks. Call Nona for directions at 292-1065.
     
  • Do you feel you have the gift of caring and listening? Stephen Ministry classes will begin September 19th. We’d love to have you join us. Contact any Stephen Leader for an application: Connie Hoffmeyer, Susan Parsons, P. Z. Sinclair, or Stephen Staff Advisors Pastor Karen and Diane Gattone. Applications are to be returned as soon as possible.
     
  • The historic first meeting of the combined North and South Indiana United Methodist Conferences will be on October 4th at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. Everyone is invited! More details will come.
     
  • Mark your calendars for the annual Mom2Mom Holiday Craft and Home Business Bazaar on November 15th from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm in Fellowship Hall. Booth space is available. Please contact Sheri Ivie atvsheri_ivie@hotmail.com for more information.
     
  • Wednesday Night LiveSeptember 10th, 17th & 24th. Supper from 6-6:45 pm – on the 10th: chicken with pasta, bread sticks, green salad, blueberry squares; on the 17th: Shepherd’s Pie, orange cream fruit salad, crumb-topped chocolate cake and on the 24th: spoonbread tamale bake, refried beans, cinnamon apples, brownies.

    Activities begin @ 7:00 pm – for adults: New  Membership class (17th & 24th only, 7:00-8:30 pm); Staying Healthy (through diet, exercise, … Ali Clore, Registered Dietician, will discuss how to maintain a healthy diet.); and dust off your sewing machine and attend Sewing (on the 24th only); for youth: Dateable study by Justin Lookadoo and for children: homework time (an area will be set up with help for your child), crafts, indoor/outdoor games and movies.
