May 23rd – Pastor Karen’s Musical Celebration
The musicians of AUMC will be presenting ensembles and solos of Pastor Karen's favorite musical pieces. There will be a cookie reception following the performances. Childcare provided.

Menu…Grilled Hamburgers & Hot Dogs, Pastor Karen’s famous baked beans, homemade potato salad and dessert prepared by Mike & Linda Letourneau (Adults $5.00, Youth $3.00 and Family $15.00 max.) Requested R.S.V.P. no later than Tuesday.

May 22nd - Mind, Body & Spirit Tae Kwon Do - Classes will be 3:15 - 4:05 pm in rooms 103 & 104 with Senior Instructor, Emily Voekler, 2nd Dan Head Instructor with the US Chung Do Kwan Association. June 3rd - Graduation Sunday will be at 10:45 am and is followed by a luncheon for the graduates and their families. Please RSVP to Charlotte Martin at 273-0456 or the church office at 272-4068 ASAP.
AUMC Membership - If you are interested in becoming a member of AUMC prior to June 10th, please call the office as soon as possible to make the necessary arrangements.
In five weeks, the Avon United Methodist Church will hold Pastor Karen’s Retirement Celebration. Together as a congregation, we can give to the Pastor Karen Scholarship Account within the Endowment Fund and honor her for years to come. Members of the Endowment Committee will be available in the Narthex after each service today to answer questions about the Pastor Karen Scholarship Account and the Endowment Fund.
Summer Softball Team - This summer Avon UMC will be joining forces with Chapel Hill UMC to play in the Westside church softball league. Games will be played on Sunday afternoons in Speedway throughout June, July, and August. Men and women are both welcome in the league, as are teenagers fifteen and older. The first game will be Sunday June 3rd, and a practice is going to be held May 20th at 2:00 PM at Chapel Hill UMC (10th St and Girl School Road). The cost for the season is only $5 per person. Are you looking for the “right” volunteer opportunity? Do you own a cell phone? Do you like working on a computer? Then you might want to consider the babysitter coordinator volunteer position. Responsibilities include being the contact person for events or meetings held at the church where we provide babysitting services. You will work with Debbie Zusan to periodically update the list of eligible babysitters who are used to cover the scheduled events. You will also coordinate with Kerry Locke and others to schedule regular babysitter rotations for our ongoing events such as Wednesday Wellspring. Need more information?
