Avon United Methodist Church

Do you have a mission statement?

Our mission statement is as simple as one can make it. It reads: Seek, Know, Share Jesus. It is more than a tag-line or mission statement it is a call to action. We recognize that all are on a spiritual journey and we celebrate with you wherever you are in your journey and encourage you to continue to grow in the faith God has already given you. We invite you to seek, know, share Jesus with us.

What does Avon UMC believe?

The beliefs of Avon United Methodist Church are the same as the entire United Methodist Church.

United Methodists profess the historic Christian faith in God, incarnate in Jesus Christ for our salvation and ever at work in human history in the Holy Spirit. Living in a covenant of grace under the Lordship of Jesus Christ, we participate in the first fruits of God's coming reign and pray in hope for its full realization on earth as in heaven. The mission of the Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ. Local churches provide the most significant arena through which disciple-making occurs.

The United Methodist Church has a long history of concern for social justice. Our members have often taken forthright positions on controversial issues involving Christian principles. Early Methodists expressed their opposition to the slave trade, to smuggling, and to the cruel treatment of prisoners. We have a rich understanding of what we believe. We are a connectional church in nature. If you wish to read more about the United Methodist's beliefs, mission, and social justice then we invite you to follow the link above to read more. AUMC members enjoy living our faith out loud and putting feet to our words. Please feel free when you visit to ask us any questions you may have.
