You may find it helpful to read a different Bible translation than what you read last month or listen to an audio version of the Bible. Free audio versions of the Bible are available through the YouVersion Bible App. This month we will focus on the last four themes of the series while reading or listening to the entire gospel again. Below are some suggestions and questions to help you as you read and study scripture:

Sunday (8/14)
Our seventh annual all-church worship and small group series began on August 7th. During the next few months, we will seek to center our lives in Jesus and walk closer to him as he is revealed to us through the Spirit of Christ, the church, and within The Gospel of John. We hope you will join us for weekly worship services either in-person or online throughout the series, as well as go through the small group study with at least one other believer and read John’s Gospel using this Your Faith Journey weekly plan. On Sunday mornings and within the small group study sessions we will focus on eight of the themes John uses within the gospel account he wrote to reveal the truth about who Jesus is and what his life, death, and resurrection means for us. You will be encouraged to look for those themes as you read, beginning with the first four in August and then the last four in September. The theme for this week is “Eternal Life.”

Sunday (7/31)
This week we will conclude our reading of the book of 2 Kings. The books of 1 & 2 Kings were written together as one scroll to tell the stories of the various kings and the divided kingdom of the Israelites during hundreds of years after the death of King David from about 970 to 561 B.C. Although the final chapter of the book describes the fall of Jerusalem and the destruction of the Temple, 2 Kings ends with a glimmer of hope.

During the next few months, we will take a break from our 2022 journey through the Old Testament to focus on the Gospel of John during the all-church series, which begins on August 7th. As a congregation, we will read John’s Gospel together. If you would like to purchase a Gospel of John Scripture Journal for $4, which includes all of the verses from the gospel account as well as space for writing notes and journaling, they are available at AUMC on Sunday mornings.
