Your Faith Journey 12

Worship – Within the 10 Commandments we find God saying, “Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD…On it you shall not do any work.” (Deuteronomy 5:12). Time with God will restore you mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, while time spent not working provides the rest your body and mind needs. Are you regularly setting aside time for rest and restoration? If not, Labor Day weekend is a great time to start!

Give – Jesus said, “When you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret.” (Matthew 6:3-4). Prayerfully look for an opportunities to be a secret giver this week. Here are a few suggestions: a) pay for the order of the car in line behind you at a drive thru; b) pay for someone’s gas at the gas station as a surprise blessing; c) send an anonymous card to a shut in, somebody sick, or alone; d) give a fast food gift card to a homeless person.

Develop – We encourage you to read chapters 10 through 20 from the LOVE DOES book this week if you have time. If you don’t have a copy of the book, consider reading Deuteronomy 5:1-22. What do the verses reveal about God? What do they reveal about humanity? How do they apply to your life?
